Guest Bio: Dr. Alexey Danilov is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Knight Cancer Institute Hematology and Medical Oncology, in Portland, Oregon. He earned his medical degree and PhD at Yaroslavl State Medical Academy in Russia and completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Danilov runs an independently funded clinical/translational program in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that bridges the understanding of B-cell biology with early clinical evaluation of novel therapeutics. He spearheads a translational and early-phase therapeutics effort in B-cell malignancies at the Knight Cancer Institute. He has characterized promising therapeutic agents with regard to their mechanism of action and resistance, ushering them into early-phase clinical trials in CLL and NHL. He seeks to translate his findings to clinical care by developing protocols that advance current treatment paradigms. His work has received support from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lymphoma Research Foundation, the National Cancer Institute, and the Southwest Oncology Group, among other organizations. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals including Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer Research and Molecular Cancer. His research is consistently featured at national and international meetings.

He completed residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery and was awarded the Jean McDaniel Chief Resident Teaching and Leadership Award. Dr. Oh completed 3 fellowships. His first was in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Mass General where he developed proficiency in minimally-invasive shoulder and knee arthroscopy and obtained experience in the care of professional and elite athletes. The second fellowship was in Elbow and Shoulder Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, where he developed expertise in cutting-edge elbow arthroscopy and complex reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and elbow. The third was an apprenticeship with Dr. James Andrews where Dr. Oh learned the Andrews technique for Tommy John ligament reconstruction for pitchers. She did her post-doctoral training in Orthopaedic Biomaterials at the Harris Orthopaedics Laboratory on antioxidant stabilization methods of cross-linked polyethylenes for joint implants. Her post-doctoral work received the HAP Paul Award of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty. Oral was appointed an Instructor in 2005 and focused on improving the mechanical strength of current polymeric materials used in joint implants and medical devices. She was named American Academy of Orthopaedics Surgeons/National Institutes of Health Young Investigator on Wear and Osteolysis in 2007 and gain received the HAP Paul Award of the ISTA in 2011. She was named a Claflin Distinguished Scholar at the MGH in 2011 and became a Lifetime Honorary Member of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty in 2013. Oral has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and numerous book chapters. She is also an inventor of a number of material technologies for joint implants with over 90 patents and patent applications. In addition to her research, she is an educator to biomedical engineering technicians, post-doctoral fellows, medical students and colleagues.
