Men’s Health is On the Decline

Ravi Tayi, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer at Endo International, plc, a specialty pharmaceutical company, discusses the alarming results of a recent men’s health survey by Men’s Health (a magazine devoted to men’s health) of just over 1500 men, ages 18-80 where less than half of the men who participated rated their physical, mental, and sexual health as excellent or very good. He talks about Endo’s partnership with Men’s Health Network, Vault Health (offers a virtual healthcare platform), and the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) to form Healthy Now: A Men’s Health Coalition™ — a new resource for men where they can learn about common health conditions that affects men’s physical, mental and sexual health, and where they can book a free virtual consultation in the privacy and comfort of their home. 

As a licensed physician with more than 20 years of experience in the global pharmaceutical  industry, Dr. Tayi has extensive knowledge and expertise in all functions within Global Medical Affairs and Clinical Development. He started his carrier in the pharmaceutical industry at Schering-Plough/Merck and has had progressively increasing roles and responsibilities at various organizations, managing multiple departments and therapeutic areas. Dr. Tayi is currently the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Head of Global Medical Affairs at Endo International plc, with a focus on men’s health, orthopedics and hospital therapies.      Dr. Tayi’s experience in developing and launching products spans across 11 therapeutic areas. He has played critical roles in the development of 14 products and six drug device combinations, along with 18 product launches and 26 indication launches.      Prior to Endo, he served as the CMO of Ferring Pharmaceuticals with a focus on women’s health and rare diseases.  He has also held senior positions in Medical Affairs and clinical development with Ikaria, Schering-Plough, Merck & Co, Archimedes Pharma, Cubist Pharmaceuticals and Mallinckrodt.      Dr. Tayi completed his residency training as a Hospitalist at Baylor – Scott and White Hospital and completed his fellowship in clinical research at Waco Faculty Development Center, both in Texas. He also has a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Texas A&M University and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in pharmaceutical business. Dr. Tayi also worked as a hospitalist at Scott and White Hospital and is an adjunct faculty member at Texas A&M College of Medicine.
