The Zephyr Endobronchial Valve – Spectrum Health

Dr. Gustavo Cumbo-Nacheli, board-certified interventional pulmonologist talks about the Zephyr® Endobronchial Valve, a small umbrella-like object placed in the airway with a camera scope.  This new device is made by Pulmonx, was approved by the FDA in 2018 and is helping patients with COPD and Emphysema live better, healthier lives.

Gustavo Cumbo-Nacheli, MD, is a board-certified interventional pulmonologist, critical care medicine and pulmonary medicine physician. Dr. Cumbo-Nacheli earned his medical degree from the National University of Rosario in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. He completed his internal medicine residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, and completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland. Dr. Cumbo-Nacheli is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Cumbo-Nacheli’s clinical interests include bronchoscopic treatment of lung cancer, tracheal diseases, complex airway disorders, bronchopleural fistulas and diseases of the pleura using specialized procedures such as airway stenting, endobronchial ablation, endobronchial valves, bronchioplasty and rigid bronchoscopy.
