Guest Bio: Dr. Nural Cokcetin is a research scientist specialising in the field of microbiology at the ithree institute, University of Technology Sydney. Her current research focuses on understanding the antimicrobial properties of honey, with a drive to use this knowledge to develop new treatments for infections caused by multidrug resistant superbugs. Nural’s PhD focused on investigating the use of honey as a prebiotic to improve human gut health and she was one of the first researchers to show a positive impact of eating honey on the beneficial gut populations. Nural is equally passionate about doing research that has direct positive impacts for society, as she is about communicating her research to as broad an audience as possible. In recognition of this, she was named the 2017 best young science communicator in Australia and the international runner-up in the FameLab Science Communication Competition, and was an invited speaker at TEDxYouth Sydney.

Guest Bio: Dr. Wasfy is Director of Quality and Analytics as well as the Director for Outcomes Research for the Mass General Heart Center. He is a cardiologist in the Cardiac Unit Associates and a cardiac intensivist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. He is also an assistant medical director of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization. His research focuses on health policy and outcomes in cardiology, focusing on safety and value for patients. Previously, he was the administrative fellow in cardiology and the Roman DeSanctis clinical scholar at the MGH. He holds the S.B. from MIT in chemical engineering (2001) and the M.D. from Harvard Medical School (2007). He also holds the M.Phil. from Oxford University (2003), where he was a Marshall Scholar.

Guest Bio: Ira Pastor is the Chief Executive Officer at Bioquark Inc with over 30 years of experience across multiple sectors of the pharmaceutical industry, including pharmaceutical commercialization, biotech drug development, managed care, distribution, OTC, and retail. He served as VP, Business Development for drug development company Phytomedics Inc., raising $40 million of private equity, consummating over $50 million of licensing deals, and bringing lead drug candidate from discovery stage to Phase III development. Prior to that, employed by SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals working in sales, marketing, and business strategy positions. Mr. Pastor has also served as Vice President of Corporate Development for the pharmacy benefit management company Prescription Delivery Systems (acquired by Cigna Health Insurance); MBA, Temple University; BS, Pharmacy, Rutgers University. He is also a Board Member of RegenerAge SAPI de CV, a clinical company focused on expedited translational therapeutic applications of regenerative and rejuvenative healthcare interventions, the Reanima Project, member of the Executive Council of the World Academy of Medical Science – WAMS and member of the World Economic Forum’s Human Enhancement council.
