She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and an AAMFT approved supervisor. Her area of expertise includes working with patients and families struggling with multiple addictions such as sexual addiction, eating disorders and chemical dependency.

Charlene is the principal dietitian of Specialised Nutrition Care, a Perth dietetic practice specialising in oncology, gastrointestinal disorders, FODMAPs and bariatric surgery. She has a diverse experience in both the private hospital and private practice settings. Charlene was a key driver in establishing the WA Bariatric Dietitians Working Group and the DAA National Bariatric Interest Group. She was recently awarded the Dietitians Association of Australia Award of Merit (WA Branch) for her work in this area. She is passionate about helping people understand the practical dietary management of diseases through a person-centered, individual approach.

Guest Bio: Dr Alina Zeldovich is an eye physician and surgeon who specialises in cataract surgery. She also works as a comprehensive ophthalmologist treating a variety of eye diseases. Dr. Zeldovich is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and appears on its Honour Roll. She is a committee representative of the NSW branch of RANZCO. In this segment, she is joined by Dr. Shanel Sharma, an accomplished researcher and eye surgeon. Dr. Sharma has published over 20 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has been a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales since 2003 and a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Sydney since 2006. She has presented her work locally and internationally, including at the World Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Meeting in Milan.

Segment overview: Exposure to harmful UV causes serious eye damage, which could lead to loss of vision both for adults and young children. The increasing number of young children who shows the first signs of eye damage caused by UV has urged Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) to encourage parents to protect their children’s eyes as they go back to school this year.

Guest Bio: ROBERT WEISS, LCSW, CSAT-S, has served for the past seven years as senior vice president of national clinical development for Elements Behavioral Health. In this capacity, he has established and overseen addiction and mental health treatment programs for more than a dozen treatment facilities, including Promises Treatment Centers in Malibu and Los Angeles, The Ranch in rural Tennessee, and The Right Step in Texas. He was instrumental in integrating Dr. Brené Brown’s The Daring Way™ curriculum into the Elements system. Previously, he developed sexual addiction treatment programming for the Sexual Recovery Institute in Los Angeles and an addiction and trauma treatment program in New Mexico.
