Dr. M. “Tonette” Krousel-Wood’s research interests are focused on clinical outcomes and healthcare processes for patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Recent research efforts include medication adherence in older patients with hypertension, adherence to physical activity recommendation in patients with diabetes, provider adherence to medication guidelines. Other interests include prevention and control of chronic diseases through lifestyle modifications.

She is a past chair of the American Board of Preventive Medicine(Opens in a new window) and is a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American Heart Association. She is a recipient of the Tinsley Harrison Award from the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation and was elected as a trustee of the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Krousel-Wood earned a Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University, a Master of Science in Public Health from Tulane University, and completed a preventive medicine residency at Tulane University.
