An experienced research scientist, executive, and investor, Dr. Amit Kumar is currently Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anixa Biosciences, and sits on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Kumar has performed and managed research programs in both cancer diagnostics and therapeutics and is credited as the inventor of Anixa’s Cchek™ technology. He has advised investment funds, venture capital firms and Fortune 500 companies and accrued extensive experience as a founder, director, and chief executive of several public and private technology enterprises.
Dr. Kumar served as Chief Executive Officer of CombiMatrix Corp. for a decade and worked with the venture capital firm Oak Investment Partners. From 2002 to 2008, he served on the Board of Directors of Acacia Research Corp. He joined the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society in 2016, and also serves on the boards of several other public and private biotechnology companies.
He received his B.A. in chemistry from Occidental College and pursued graduate studies at Stanford University and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He earned a Ph.D. from Caltech and pursued a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University.
