Katherine Lodge: Thank you for listening to Health Professional Radio. I’m Katherine, and today, our guest is Kath Mazzella. Kath helped establish GAIN, which stands for Gyaenocological Awareness Information Network Inc., in Perth with Australian of the Year Professor Ian Frazer as a patron. Her tireless petitioning of the federal government resulted in an inquiry and the establishment of the Australian Gynaecological Cancer Centre.

As she has forged strong links with agencies all around the globe, Kath has received many awards and honours in recognition of her service, including the Order of Australian medal in 2009. In 2007, Kath initiated the International Gynaecological Awareness Day, which falls on September 10th, a day that has been enthusiastically embraced in Australia and UK, and she is here to talk to us about this. Welcome to our show, Kath.
