  • Public and private hospitals are working to secure enough anaesthesia drugs to avoid cancelling elective surgery, after a nationwide quarantine of a common agent.
  • Australia’s national science organisation needs another $175 million to make sure its buildings are up to scratch, the Commission of Audit has found, amid warnings that research funding could be at risk if resources have to be diverted.
  • AMA President, Dr Steve Hambleton, said today that the health recommendations proposed by the Commission of Audit would put health, medical and pharmaceutical care out of reach for Australian families.
