Distal Femur Replacements and Spinal Anesthesia In Same Day Discharge Patients
In this interview, Dr. Vivek Shah, MD, Director of Outpatient Arthroplasty in the Department of Orthopedics and a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School talks about his recent research ”Clinical Outcomes and Survivorship of Distal Femur Replacements Using Cemented versus Cementless Femoral Stems” and ”Optimizing Spinal Anesthesia Formulation In Same Day Discharge Total Joint Arthroplasty Patients: Mepivacaine vs Ropivacaine” which was recently presented at the 2022 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual meeting.
Dr. Vivek Shah is the Director of Outpatient Arthroplasty in the Department of Orthopedics Brigham Health where before he was at New England Baptist Hospital where he practiced for the last five years. At Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital he performs total hip arthroplasty (both anterior and posterior), total knee arthroplasty and partial knee replacements with a focus on outpatient total joints. Dr. Shah studied medicine at Georgetown University and Tufts University Schools of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Tufts Medical Center before completing a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital. Dr. Shah is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
